Security & Trust
How we handle your data, and what we don't do.
Our approach
Law firms handle sensitive client information. We built MatterReady with that responsibility in mind. Our approach is conservative by design: we do less, not more, and we keep attorneys in control.
What we don't collect
No Clio credentials
We never ask for or store your Clio login credentials. Integration happens through authorized API access that you control and can revoke at any time.
No passwords or secrets
Client intake forms don't collect passwords, financial account numbers, or other sensitive credentials. We collect matter information, not security-sensitive data.
No unnecessary data
Intake forms are designed to collect what's needed for matter qualification. We don't gather information beyond what serves the intake process.
What we don't do
No legal advice
MatterReady does not provide legal advice, ever. We help organize and qualify intake information. Legal judgment remains entirely with your attorneys.
No automated decisions
Conflict signals are flags for review, not determinations. Qualification scores indicate completeness, not case merit. Your team makes every decision that matters.
No document drafting
We don't generate engagement letters, pleadings, or legal documents. MatterReady handles intake and qualification—document preparation is your firm's domain.
Attorney review is final
MatterReady surfaces information and signals. It does not make decisions for your firm. Every conflict flag requires attorney review. Every matter requires attorney approval before proceeding.
We've designed the system this way intentionally. Automation should reduce manual work, not replace professional judgment. Your attorneys remain the final authority on every matter.
Conservative automation
We're skeptical of automation that moves too fast or does too much. MatterReady automates the repetitive parts of intake—data normalization, completeness checking, format standardization—not the parts that require human judgment.
- Structured data collection, not freeform interpretation
- Completeness scoring based on clear criteria
- Pattern matching for conflict signals, not conflict resolution
- Data formatting for Clio, not automated matter creation
When in doubt, we surface information for human review rather than making assumptions.
Data handling
Client intake information is stored securely and handled according to industry-standard practices. We use encryption in transit and at rest. Access is limited to authorized personnel.
We don't sell data. We don't use your client information for purposes beyond providing the MatterReady service to your firm.
If you have specific security requirements or questions about our practices, we're happy to discuss them directly.
